Screensaver Hides Trojan
Scammers are now hiding a Trojan horse within a Lycos antispam screensaver and it is currently spreading in Europe through email. This attack has a key-logger that steals all your keystrokes and the scammers are capitalizing on the Lycos Europe antispam campaign by riding the wave of publicity surrounding Lycos recent efforts, according to CNET.

Mozialla.org has announced the availability of Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 email client. The press release from Mozilla states: “Thunderbird focuses on new features and settings to help stop spam and prevent viruses, the two biggest problems facing email users today. PC Tip of the Day: Personalize Start Menu
Windows XP users can configure the Start Menu and task bar to contain programs they commonly use. Other alternatives include using the Quick Launch bar or placing a shortcut icon to your favorite program on the desktop. The Microsoft Support site has directions on how to use any or all of the above and serves as Multiple Platforms.com tip of the day.

Apple Tip of the Day: Dock It, Matey
Before I install an update on my Macs, I always repair the Disk Permissions a process initiated from Disk Utility and the latter is buried in the Utilities folder that is snuggled into the Applications folder. I finally got tired of all that digging and chose to keep it in the Dock on all our Macs. To keep an application in the Dock, just click on the icon in the Dock after the program is opened and select Keep in Dock. I always repair disk permission after installing the update also, so it is handy to keep it Docked.

What is a Port?
A port can be a place to dock your ship, something you drink after dinner, or according to Wikipedia it could be, “A hardware port is an outlet on a piece of equipment into which a plug or cable connects. For instance, most home computers have a keyboard port, into which the keyboard is connected. Hardware ports can almost always be divided into two groups: Those that send and receive one bit at a time via a single wire are called serial ports, and those that send multiple bits at the same time over a set of wires are called parallel ports.”
